Aftermath: Follow Up

Aftermath: the consequences or aftereffects of a significant unpleasant event.

  • How are the parents of an infant who unexpectedly died?
  • How is the dispatcher who fielded the traumatic call?
  • How is the truck driver who was hit head on by a driver who crossed over the center line causing his own sudden death?
  • How are responders who were on scene for a teen gunshot suicide?
  • How are spouses of law enforcement officers coping with a scene where their husbands were shot at?

All of these concerns are a part of Braveheart’s ministry to emergency responders, their families, and citizens who have experienced a life altering event. Not only is Braveheart on scene to assist everyone involved, but we are also committed to conducting follow up to address the aftermath.

Trained Braveheart volunteers follow up by calling citizens to check on their status, see what they need, possibly pray with them, and to answer any questions.

As a chaplain, I contact responders and their families to discuss their well-being, needs, and any resources which might help them after they have experienced a challenging situation.

Our goal is for people who have endured such a difficult episode to be resourced so that they move forward in the healthiest manner possible.
