Why Nine?

Why would Braveheart need nine chaplains to provide comprehensive, dependable, around-the-clock professional services to our emergency responders, their families, and citizens experiencing a critical incident? Flathead County’s population is quickly swelling in number, which means that more crisis situations will need a chaplain response. More chaplains mean that we can effectively respond to multiple incidents, even if they are occurring simultaneously.

This occurred recently when two young men both took their own lives on a Tuesday morning. Five chaplains were involved in providing thorough care to responders, family members, and friends of the victims. Also, having a variety of chaplains means that the wide array of medics, firefighters, and law enforcement officers will likely find a chaplain that he or she relates to well.  Among the nine, you will find experience in:

  • Jail ministry
  • Hospital chaplaincy
  • Army special forces
  • Two career Navy servicemen
  • Medic with a fire department
  • At least 100 years of pastoral experience
  • Mental health professional
  • Hospice chaplain
  • Business owner
  • A large number of advanced degrees
  • Plenty of years being married and parenting

It is not that we went looking for this number of chaplains as much as that is what the Lord determined we needed.
Our chaplain pool includes two women and seven men.

Chris and I are honored to lead Braveheart’s chaplain corps. The nine of us are committed to the mission that the Lord has placed before us.

  1. I’m so glad you’re able to add more. One or two can’t do it all. May God enable and bless you all.
