As Lake County Deputy Ross Holcomb’s family, close friends, and fellow emergency responders gathered last Thursday for his memorial service, the Polson Fire Department honored the fallen officer by displaying this unusually large United States flag. 

There was a strong show of support from many agencies, including law enforcement, medics, firefighters, search and rescue squads and the Two Bear Rescue helicopter.  I was honored to serve as the officiant which carried with it both a privilege and the pastoral weight of caring for many. 

While only about fifteen could physically be present inside of New Life Church, many responders from multiple agencies watched the live stream from their duty vehicles in the parking lot. The virtual service was also viewed by an untold number of supporters, both locally and in other parts of our nation.

May the Lord uplift all who are grieving over Deputy Holcomb’s sudden death.
