An unexpected and destructive fire can quickly have a lasting impact on a family just like this one did this morning. While no one was physically injured, a major loss of property makes an emotional and mental mark upon its victims. It often leaves them with questions, concerns, and a new source of stress.

The fire occurred in South Kalispell’s district. This agency led the charge but as is the common practice, mutual aid was provided through multiple other fire departments as well as by the Kalispell Police Department and the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.

I was able to assist with various needs including emotional support and talking through issues with those closely related to the situation. I also communicated a medical need to the appropriate responder and made the Red Cross available to the family.

Many people were on scene in some official capacity while others provided aid as friends, family, and neighbors. It takes the comprehensive effort of all to assist victims through such a crisis.
